On Sunday February 17, 2008, Reliance Power Ltd had announced proposed bonus shares for its investors other than promoters. Today, after a week, the bonus shares were declared. Reliance Power Ltd declared that 3 bonus shares will be issued for every 5 shares held. Earlier the issue price of Reliance Power Ltd. IPO was fixed at Rs.450/- per share. Retail Investors were given a discount of Rs.20/- per share

Consequently, the bonus issue will reduce the cost per share of Reliance Power Ltd. for retail investors to about Rs.269/- and for non-retail investors to about Rs.281/-

The record date for bonus shares will be decided upon and all investors who hold shares as on that date will be eligible for bonus.

Reliance Power Ltd plans to issue bonus shares to all equity holders other than the promoters. Final decision will be taken in company's board meeting on Sunday February 24, 2008. The ratio of bonus shares is not known yet.
