January 17, 2017 0
BSE CEO says it's been 10 years since BSE trying to do IPO Listing
Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of BSE, in a recent chat with ET Now, calls it an eventful journey for the Bombay Stock Exchange. "In fact it is almost 10 years since BSE was demutualised so 2007 since then BSE has been trying to do the listing and now hopefully we are closer to it one more step"

When asked about the rather conservative pricing of the proposed IPO, his response was "Basically the pricing is something which the investment bankers decide after talking to all the potential investors in India and abroad and that book building is where basically the pricing comes out of it so whatever they have recommended is what the board of BSE and also the selling shareholders seem to have accepted"

BSE IPO Opening Date

January 06, 2017 0
BSE IPO Opening Date
The IPO of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) of India is likely to open in the fourth week of January 2017. The market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had approved stock exchange BSE’s initial public offer (IPO) of 1,54,27,197 shares of face value of Rs.2/- each

As of June 30, 2016, the BSE had 1,440 unique members across all segments and in FY2016 the BSE accepted an average of 284.92 million orders and 1.55 million trades in equity shares per trading day, placing it as the 12th most active exchange in the world in terms of electronic book trades in equity shares

An extraordinary and rather interesting aspect of this listing, whenever materialized, would be that BSE is itself an exchange and listing of BSE on itself would be an issue. In this regard, SEBI said an exchange cannot be listed on itself, which means if the BSE were to go public, it has to do so on the NSE or another exchange and vice versa

CDSL to come up with an IPO
After BSE and NSE, now Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) is planning to come up with an IPO. The issue would be entirely a stake sale by BSE and HDFC Bank and some other banks. BSE currently owns 50 per cent stake in CDSL and will dilute around 26 per cent in the IPO

Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL), is the second Indian central securities depository based in Mumbai. Its main function is the holding securities either in certificated or uncertificated (dematerialized) form, to enable book entry transfer of securities

CDSL is promoted by Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE) jointly with State Bank of India, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Axis Bank and Union Bank of India. According to the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (Sebi's) regulations, no stock exchange can own more than 24 per cent stake in a MII. The deadline for BSE to bring down its holding in CDSL ends on March 31, 2017. Sources said CDSL is aiming to launch its IPO before the deadline.

Reliance Jio effect: Vodafone may prefer delaying IPO even further

Reliance Jio effect: Vodafone may prefer delaying IPO even further

Vodafone India, the No.2 mobile phone carrier by market share and revenue, and other players in India’s telecoms market have been clearly impacted by the entry of Reliance Jio and the crazy free deals that it comes with - seems so atleast till now

The operating profit of Vodafone India declined 24.3% to Rs.1,798.4 crore in the half year to 30 September from Rs.2,375.98 crore in the same period during earlier year. Revenue also had witnessed a decline Rs.22,053.8 crore from Rs.22,574.59 crore

Under the circumstances, it seems highly unlikely that the company may muster the courage to come up in limelight and go ahead with the IPO anytime soon

Earlier, the chief executive of Vodafone had said “Competition in India has increased in the year, reducing revenue growth and profitability. We have responded to this changing competitive environment by strengthening our data and voice commercial offers and by focusing our participation in the recent spectrum auction on acquiring frequencies in the more successful and profitable areas of the country.”
